Ensure there is nothing blocking the float from going all the way up.
The float assembly needs to be replaced, because it is not pushing the pump to the on position.
The pump could be clogged.
The motor or the capacitor could be going bad.
If so, replace the pump.
The pump is air locked.
There is blockage in the discharge line.
The check valve could be installed in the wrong direction or not opening.
Head/vertical pumping height is too high for the pump.
